The ability to communicate is a gift whose value cannot be overstated
- especially for children. Hearing impairment without special support
leads to frustration, which can in turn lead to antisocial behaviour
and further alienation. Far too often, children who can’t hear
are thought to be intellectually impaired – unable to learn.
So they are don’t get the chance to go to school.
In a world where an estimated 30 million people are deaf and
a further 20 million are hearing impaired, you can make
a difference.
cbm provides preventive medical care to 110,000 ear patients each
year and educational/social care to more than 13,000 children with
a hearing impairment. But we need to do more.
